Carol A. Soderquist devotes her practice to representing clients in family law matters, with an emphasis on guardianship / conservatorship related issues, juvenile court litigation, adoption, mental health and elder law, including the protection of vulnerable or incapacitated adults and the representation of persons with disabilities in family law matters.
Ms. Soderquist also represents private fiduciaries in various capacities, including contested litigation, and was past Chair (2003-2004) of the State Bar of Arizona's Mental Health & Elder Law Executive Council.
Ms. Soderquist's interest in children's welfare stems from her work with children with developmental delays at the Central Arizona Child Evaluation Center and her tenure with the Gila River Indian Community where she developed a "parent-infant" special needs program.
In addition, for 13 years Ms. Soderquist completed background screenings and home studies of potential foster/adoptive parents to ensure Arizona children were placed in safe homes. She has also served on the Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) Advisory Council and recommended revisions and changes to the Department of Economic Security foster care licensing rules.
A former foster parent herself who was recognized as an exceptional Foster Parent in Arizona, Ms. Soderquist is actively involved with the Social Action Committee at her church where she directed a volunteer program to benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Ms. Soderquist serves as a Parent Coordinator/Special Master for the Maricopa County Superior Court.
She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Arizona State University's College of Law and was admitted to practice in in 1998 in Arizona, was admitted by the United States District Court for the District of Arizona in 2000. Ms. Soderquist has participated in the pilot probate mediation project and is a Maricopa County Superior Court trained mediator. Her practice strengths are in negotiating and rapidly solving complex cases.
